Packing for Las Vegas: What To Wear

What to wear in Las Vegas: From Provocative to Glam and Everything in Between

Las Vegas embraces bold style, fun, freedom, and sometimes even a little flirtation. Whether you’re out for a romantic dinner, heading to a concert, or soaking up the sun by the pool, the key to dressing in Vegas is confidence. From daring nightlife looks to casual day wear, here’s the guide to dressing for every Las Vegas occasion all year round.

What to pack for a Las Vegas dinner date or show

After the sun sets, Vegas style shifts into high gear with glam and sophistication. For a dinner date or show, I love to rock a cocktail dress. This is my go-to “uniform” for an evening out. The best part? In Vegas, pearls are not clutched by daring necklines and playful silhouettes. It’s all about being flirty – think chic, not risqué.

I also love adding sparkle to my look, mixing high end jewelry and affordable finds from places like Claire’s. Vegas is the perfect place to shine, so don’t hold back on the bling! My husband usually keeps it casual in jeans and a button down shirt at night. If we’re planning a formal dinner, he will pack a sport coat or jacket and a pair of loafers.

For concerts at small venues, I usually stick with cocktail attire, though larger venues or crowded shows may allow for a bit more freedom with improvisation. Just remember, Vegas is all about expressing yourself.

What to wear to Las Vegas Music Festival, Concert, or Club

Music festivals, concerts, and clubs are quintessential Vegas experiences — and the fashion here tends to be as bold and vibrant as the music itself. When attending a festival or outdoor concert, expect to see a lot of crop tops, bandeau bras, and fishnet tights. The heat can be intense, especially in the summer, but locals know how to dress for it. Men can keep it casual or get creative and feel comfortable in the crowd.

At night, the club scene brings a whole new level of excitement. Sexy, fun, and flirty outfits are the norm. Think body-hugging dresses, daring cutouts, and sky-high heels. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something that allows you to dance and enjoy the energy of the night.

Packing for the Rodeo in Las Vegas

The National Finals Rodeo in December is a can’t-miss event in Las Vegas. If you’re heading to this event, you’ll want to embrace Western chic. Cowboy boots and hats are a must for any cowgirl, but when the sun sets, you can get creative with your nighttime look. For a fun twist, pair super-short denim with a shirt that’s only buttoned halfway up. The rodeo offers a unique opportunity to mix rugged with flirty in true Vegas style.

What to wear to a Las Vegas pool

Las Vegas pools are legendary, and what you wear really depends on where you’re going. If you’re spending the day at Mandalay Bay Beach, a more modest bikini is appropriate for the family-friendly vibe. However, if you’re heading to Drai’s Beach Club, expect to see a lot of skin. It’s the place for daring swimsuits with barely-there tops and bottoms. No matter where you go, be sure to bring a cover-up for walking to and from the pool.

I also highly recommend checking for dress code information if you are going to a dayclub or pool party. Many Las Vegas pools prohibit bags, athletic shorts, denim, etc. so it’s better to be aware before you head out.

Packing for weather in Las Vegas

The desert is the desert. Cooler evenings are promised once the sun sets – and it sets early. The sun sets early in Vegas, and temperatures can drop quickly as the night rolls in. Depending on where you’re from, you might need to layer up with a light jacket or sweater as the evening cools. Being from the Midwest, I find Vegas winter temperatures to be mild and not too cool. Personally, in the cooler months I travel less during the evening hours. In Las Vegas, the real weather deal breaker for me is wind. February wind can be brutal even if The Weather app shows 55 degrees and sunny! December through February I pack long sleeve dresses for daytime and also throw a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt into my suitcase.

Packing wisely for women and men

Daytime in Vegas is all about comfort — especially when you’re walking more than you might expect! A good pair of sneakers will save your feet during long treks up and down the Strip or to and from the hotel. You’ll want to keep your look casual, but still stylish.

No matter where your adventures take you in this vibrant city, let your style shine just as brightly as the lights on the Strip! One of the best things about Las Vegas is that you are very likely never to be over or under-dressed for anything. Las Vegas is a city that celebrates individuality and self-expression through fashion. The most important thing to remember is to dress for the occasion and, above all, wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable.
