New Years Eve in Las Vegas: 5 Essential Tips for Celebrating!

Ringing in the New Year in Las Vegas can hit a snag if you’re not prepared! Here are five essential tips for celebrating New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas.

1. Hit the liquor stores before New Year’s Eve!

Clark county ordinances prohibit selling bottles of liquor in glass bottles between 6:00 am on New Year’s Eve and 6:00 am on New Year’s Day. Be prepared and purchase a head of time, or be prepared to pay full price (or more) for all your poured drinks. I always plan ahead and purchase my liquor on December 30th!

2. Traffic will close on the strip!

All strip traffic comes to a stop around 8:00 pm on New Year’s Eve. Interstate 15 off ramps will also be closed at Flamingo around 6:30 pm. If you’re traveling to the strip for the evening plan, on staying for a while…. a long while… And if you’re staying on the strip, spending your time near your hotel could save you a lot of agony. Downtown streets will close for the evening as well with designated rideshare pick up and drop off locations.

Please keep this advice in mind if you’re celebrating on the strip by seeing a New Year’s Eve show or watch the fireworks. I promise leaving the strip will be much harder than getting there!

3. Know which items are prohibited

Backpacks, strollers, glass containers, aluminum containers and more are prohibited on both Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. Those under the age of 21 are also unwelcome on Fremont Street during New Year’s Eve.

4. Be prepared for (drunk) people

New Year’s Eve is one of the biggest nights in Vegas. If you are celebrating the new year in Las Vegas, be prepared to be patient. Las Vegas will be flocked by party goers and many of those will
